“Just wanted to contribute my two cents, since I’ve gotten SO much from you, Pauline…and I’m not done yet! So my pictures aren’t “before” and “after” but “before” and “in progress.” I will try to keep this somewhat brief, but there’s a lot I want to say! And I’ll probably have more to say later as I progress. At one point in my life, I was very heavy for my frame. I won’t go into that whole story, but over two years I lost 50 pounds through hard work: eating right and exercising. As I lost that weight, people just had to know what my secret was. When I said, “eating right and exercising,” their faces fell. Nope. Still no magic pill. I mean, some strange pill didn’t make you fat, right? So, why would it make you skinny? LOLI don’t have a real fast metabolism, and I’ve always loved lifting weights. Combine that with not eating right and I usually just got thick and bulky when I lifted the way I wanted, i.e. heavy weights. I was torn because I love lifting a lot of weight. I don’t have the patience to do a million reps. Then I came across Fighter Diet, and I eased into it. I’m still digesting the whole Fighter Diet lifestyle, so to speak, wrapping my mind around these simple, yet complex concepts…Then one day I posted on Pauline’s wall when she said, “Ask questions! Put them on my wall!!” (Please note, I put it on her wall, not as a comment on the status…) I said I was afraid of this bulking, which I had done before by lifting heavy. Simple answer from Pauline: if I ate a fat-cutting diet, I wouldn’t bulk. I had just begun FDX3 and so I said, I’m gonna trust her and go for it. What do I have to lose? I started lifting heavier, and my muscles cried out in ecstasy, “YES! We LOVE it!” It felt so good! Lifting this way rings true with my body. I also love running, and to me lifting is the same feeling as a good long run…my arms and legs are pumping, my heart is beating strong, air is going in and out of my lungs. In short, I feel ALIVE. And boy, do I freaking love life.

I have transitioned to FD Extreme. I’m in week 2 and I was planning on writing this after the first month. But this morning, when my 5’7” self got on the scale and it said 149.8, I was just so flipping excited cuz I haven’t seen that number for YEARS and I couldn’t hold in my excitement. In 1 ½ weeks I’ve lost 8 pounds…the number is actually higher, but I know there was about 3-4 pounds of water I was retaining due to Mother Nature, lol. And I’m not done! I have a burning desire to compete in figure or fit body, or something along those lines…not sure what the eventual “category” will be, and I’m ok with that. Right now, I’m just trying to enjoy the journey and develop my patience! The stubborn areas that are holding on to their precious fat still need work, but I’m focusing on my gains in the other areas while I patiently coax (ha ha, “patiently coax” for me is involves blood, sweat, tears, and cursing), those problem areas.

Thank you, Pauline! I have found a way to have my rice cake and eat it too. The strength aspect is super important to me as I am in Law Enforcement and my life literally depends on my fitness. And being a woman, I’m already at a strength disadvantage with most people I deal with daily. The confidence I’m gaining in my body and what it’s actually capable of is amazing and exciting. It’s like discovering a new feature on a device you’ve used for years. -Kim Trout
