kudos to all distance runners
After years of weight training and intervals, no steady state cardio work more than a few minutes in the lactic acid zone, it’s a pain in the butt to retrain those muscle fibers! Distance runners always amazed me because I wondered how they keep on running and what goes on in their mind while running and now when I’m putting in more work in the endurance genre I feel that true admiration again for those who are into that kind of exercise on an elite level… It’s just harder to do a lot of cardio than to weight train! I mean, weight training is more fun! It’s less repetitive… Right now I’m going through the “what am I doing phase”, my mind questions my actions. I did try before to keep the weight training heavy and add more cardio. I did not get tighter or smaller. So, I don’t see a reason to try that again. The good news is my legs feel better. I have not done any lactic acid sessions so the muscles are less heavy and tense. Tonight I want to go back to circuit train, but man, it takes some practice, I am not used to just hover around from one exercise to another and not push all out, more make sure I last for 20 reps or so. I enjoy the slower motions though. Throughout my training years I’ve come to understanding adding muscle did not let me eat more. I’ve been on the same amount of calories more or less for a decade. The body composition makeover did not change my caloric need. Now, when I wonder what it takes to lose a few pounds and I am not focusing on losing only fat but muscle as well, I believe I just need to exercise more. Because eating less than I do now is not an option! I feel a bit confused, I tend to go back to “well, just lean out more, keep the heavy training” but then I remember I want to CHANGE the way I look. So I cannot keep on doing the same or I’ll keep on getting the same results. Not going heavy with weight training is tough to do. lifting a little here and there, so called disco training is just….weird. It takes time to get used to this. I want instant results just like everybody else! And this morning I was up 2 lbs lol from a lack of sleep and too late dinner. Well, well.:-)
